RICARDO CARRILLO, Ph.D.*
Training and Technical Assistance Consultant

Dr. Ricardo Carrillo is a consultant for the Training and Technical Assistance Division of the National Latino Alliance for the Elimination of Domestic Violence. He is a licensed clinical psychologist and an internationally recognized clinical trainer with a specialization in domestic violence, family therapy, forensic psychology, addictions, and cultural competence. Currently Dr. Carrillo is the director of clinical services for Kaweah Delta Mental Health Hospital and the Director of Latino Mental Health project. He has also served as senior faculty and Director of Training for several graduate schools of professional psychology in the San Francisco Bay Area. Dr. Carrillo is the senior editor of the text: Family Violence and Men of Color: Healing the Wounded Male Spirit, published in 1998. He is the father of two children, is a purveyor of the culinary arts, and performs with a Tex-Mex group, The Conjunto Coyote and is the band leader for Ricazo a Latin Jazz group.

JULIA L. PERILLA, Ph.D.*
Research Consultant

Dr. Julia L. Perilla is a clinical community psychologist and Associate Research Professor in the Department of Psychology at Georgia State University. Her work is in the areas of domestic violence, diversity issues, Latino families, and trauma, about which she has conducted research, published numerous articles and made presentations at national and international conferences. Dr. Perilla is the founder of Caminar Latino, a comprehensive intervention for Latino families affected by domestic violence. She served as Coordinator of the program from 1990 until 2003, when Caminar Latino incorporated as a non-profit organization and she became its Senior Advisor. Dr. Perilla serves as Director of El Centro: The National Latino Research Center on Domestic Violence at Georgia State University, a component of the National Latino Alliance for the Elimination of Domestic Violence. She is President of TAPESTRI: The Refugee and Immigrant Coalition Challenging Gender-Based Oppression and an appointee to the Georgia Commission on Family Violence. Dr. Perilla received the Georgia Psychological Association 2003 Community Service Award and the Georgia Commission on Family Violence 2001 Gender Justice Award for her work with immigrant populations affected by domestic violence.
