González, Resource Development Project Manager in collaboration with
the VAWO Technical Assistance Program partners, Georgia State University,
Benedictine Resource Center, Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence,
National Compadres Network and Violence Intervention Program, Inc. mailed
(in May) a survey asking six hundred VAWO grantees/sub grantees and other
domestic violence service providers across the nation to identify and prioritize
the types of domestic violence materials that they need most urgently to
serve Latina/o survivors of domestic violence. She is now busy analyzing
all the results. | |||||||||

January 2002, Alianza moved into its own office space in East Harlem, in
New York City, after being housed for a year by our host agency and fiscal
agent—the Violence Intervention Program. The new space has allowed us to
accommodate a larger staff and to more adequately meet the expanding needs
of Alianza. | |||||||||

Alianza, in collaboration with Georgia State University, held a national
Research Forum (Encuentro) in March 2002 and will publish a report of the
proceedings and recommendations. | |||||||||

![]() | The Alianza was awarded a grant by the Violence Against Women Office (VAWO) of the U.S. Department of Justice to develop culturally competent DV materials in Spanish. Belsie Gonzalez has been heading the project which will develop Spanish-language materials to assist domestic violence organizations to better serve Latino/a communities. | |||||||||
