In January 2002, Alianza moved into its own office space in East Harlem, in New York City, after being housed for a year by our host agency and fiscal agent—the Violence Intervention Program. The new space has allowed us to accommodate a larger staff and to more adequately meet the expanding needs of Alianza.
The Alianza, in collaboration with Georgia State University, held a national Research Forum (Encuentro) in March 2002 and will publish a report of the proceedings and recommendations.
The Alianza published the final report of the First National Latino Policy Summit on Domestic Violence. Download a pdf version of the Executive Summary of the Report.
The Alianza was awarded a grant by the Violence Against Women Office (VAWO) of the U.S. Department of Justice to develop culturally competent DV materials in Spanish. Belsie Gonzalez has been heading the project which will develop Spanish-language materials to assist domestic violence organizations to better serve Latino/a communities.
