Community Education and Development

Alianza’s goals in this area are to: raise awareness about domestic violence in Latino communities – its existence, prevalence, nature, and its damaging effects; provide information about rights, options, resources, and services. Alianza does this through the media, community forums, special events, and the distribution of materials.

Technical Assistance

Alianza receives approximately 15-20 calls per week requesting technical assistance. Requests for assistance include but are not limited to: Spanish translation, research materials and statistics and print materials. When fielding these calls, it is helpful that Alianza is well versed in many Spanish regionalisms, as its support base runs throughout the country.

Resource Center

Alianza's Resource Center has linguistically and culturally appropriate materials: reports, brochures, books/articles, videos, and posters on a range of topics on issues concerning domestic violence. All materials are in English and Spanish.

We do this by:

  2. Increase public awareness about the devastating effects of domestic violence on Latino families and communities;

  3. Identify and promote research and practices that inform public policy and that lead to the development of culturally competent strategies and programs;

  4. Provide training and technical assistance to organizations and individuals that provide domestic violence related services to Latino Communities;

  5. To expend, contribute, disburse and otherwise dispose of its money, income and other property exclusively and only for the purpose of addressing the specific domestic violence needs and concerns of Latino families and communities by means of research, gatherings, educational activities, cultural events, exhibitions, and in general to carry out any activity incidental to or connected with the foregoing purposes or in advancement there of but not for the pecuniary profit or financial gain of its directors or officers.
