Alianza will be offering 3 Cultural Competency trainings in the spring of 2014 (see description below). Once we receive approval from the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), we will send out an email blast and begin registration. Locations and dates have been tentatively planned as follows:
On the Road to Social Transformation: Culture Competency Training for Domestic Violence Service Providers and Advocates
Through this training, participants will have the opportunity to:
Understand the importance of making their programs & services more accessible and responsive to the particular needs of underserved populations, specifically Latinas/os.
Learn how to conduct a cultural competency organizational self-assessment to help determine what changes need to be made, within their organizations, to create organizational diversity, eliminate disparities, and develop culturally competent programs and services.
Learn about various culturally and linguistically responsive approaches, strategies and programs created to address the specific needs of Latina survivors, families and communities and explore examples of what culturally responsive services look like in terms of policies, staffing, outreach, accessibility, practices and other key elements.
