Director of Training & Technical Assistance
and Community Education & Development

The National Latino Alliance for the Elimination of Domestic Violence (Alianza) is part of a national effort to address the domestic violence needs and concerns of underserved populations. It represents a growing network of Latina and Latino advocates, community activists, practitioners, researchers, and survivors of domestic violence dedicated to creating culturally competent strategies and programs to help eliminate domestic violence in Latino communities.

The Director of Policy and Research will report directly to the Executive Director and will work in concert with Alianza’s Director of Policy and Research. He/she will be based in Alianza’s New York City office.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Executive Director to develop projects, set goals and objectives, establish timelines, and oversee project budgets as they relate to contract and grant obligations

  • Develop contracts with Training & Technical Assistance contractors and consultants in consultation with the Executive Director

  • Provide oversight for contractual services and operations entered into by Alianza with the National Compadres Network (NCN) and/or other T&TA contractors and consultants; serve as the liaison between NCN, other contractors and Alianza’s Executive Director

  • Provide oversight for the Programs & Information and Website consultants
    Prepare and submit component/project reports to the Executive Director and assist with the drafting of reports to DHHS

  • Oversee Alianza’s Office of Violence Against Women (OVW) contract, including contractors’ and consultants’ work; prepare progress reports for submission to OVW and ensure submission of fiscal reports by Alianza’s fiscal officer.

  • Work with NCN and/or OVW contractors to plan and host T&TA forums, workshops, institutes

  • Work with the T&TA subcontractors and T&TA Subcommittee in the development of subsequent forum publications

  • Coordinate the efforts of the Community Education and Development (CE&D) Subcommittee, CE&D partners, and consultants involved in planning and implementing media campaigns and other public education activities

  • Oversee the “matching” of community organizations with T&TA providers in various regions using Alianza’s directory of organizations and experts/consultants listing (e.g. trainers, speakers)

  • Oversee and work with the T&TA contractors in compiling bilingual and culturally competent materials on service delivery, program development, training & technical assistance, and fund development

  • Conduct mid-year and end-of-year evaluations of NCN and other T&TA contractors/consultants

  • Enhance Alianza’s website and resource library with culturally and linguistically appropriate domestic violence materials (facts, statistics, funding sources, and programmatic resources) that will be available on an ongoing basis to interested and concerned individuals, agencies, organizations, and institutions both within and outside of Latino communities

  • Assist the Executive Director in building collaborations with other domestic violence organizations and other national technical assistance resource centers and clearinghouses

  • Work with the Executive Director to plan and implement a membership base for Alianza; assist with overseeing the Madrinas/Padrinos Network

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Excellent writing, interpersonal, and communication skills

  • Excellent analytical, planning, and problem solving skills

  • Prior experience and proven ability to supervise and monitor staff and contractors and ensure compliance with contracts in a timely manner

  • Ability to work as part of a team, with both men and women, and with people of various ages

  • Ability to handle various projects simultaneously, to use good judgment in setting priorities, and to meet project goals and objectives in a timely manner

  • A good understanding of the experiences of Latino groups in the United States and a strong commitment to improving the quality of life of Latino communities

  • Prior experience working in the area of domestic violence

  • Prior experience providing or overseeing training and technical assistance

  • Prior experience conducting or overseeing community education activities

  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish

  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of applications and software programs including Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel


Full-time position with a competitive salary, commensurate with experience.
